Description
These delicious apple fries and caramel dipping sauce are the perfect dessert for a late summer/early autumn barbecue. They’re crispy, tender, sweet, and absolutely delicious.
Ingredients

- 3 granny smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- cinnamon to taste
- extra sugar
- ½ cup oil
Dip:
- 8 oz cream cheese
- ½ family size cool whip
- 1 cup of caramel sauce
Instructions
For the apples:
- Add your oil to your skillet and turn on the heat on medium-high.
- Combine the buttermilk and one cup of sugar in a bowl and whisk until the sugar has melted.
- Soak your apples and the buttermilk and sugar mixture for several minutes.
- Cup your flour in a container.
- Coat your Apple slices in the flour.
- Add the coated apples to the oil in batches and fried until all sides are browned.
- Remove each batch and put them on a paper towel lined plate.
- Quickly dust your fried apples with sugar and cinnamon.
- Do this for all the batches until all your slices are fried.
For the dip:
- Combine your cream cheese and your cool whip in a mixer and blend them until they’re smooth.
- Add your caramel sauce and further blend until combined.
- Pour your dip sauce into a serving bowl.
- Drizzle the remaining caramel on top of the sauce.
