Description

These easy, delicious, and buttery breadsticks are perfect for snacking or as a side dish to make any dinner more special. Brushed with garlic butter and topped with Parmesan, they’re a delightful combination of a dinner roll and garlic bread.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup (240 ml) warm water (110°F)

2 tbsp sugar

1 package (1/4 oz or 2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

2 1/2 cups (300g) all-purpose flour, divided

3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 tsp salt

2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)

2 tbsp additional unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Fresh parsley, minced (optional)

Grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Whisk and set aside for about 5 minutes or until foamy.
  2. Add 2 cups (240g) of all-purpose flour and 3 tablespoons of melted butter to the yeast mixture.
  3. Attach the dough hook to the mixer and mix on low until combined.
  4. Gradually add the remaining 1/2 cup (60g) of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt while mixing.
  5. Increase the speed to medium and mix for about 6 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  6. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and let it rise for about 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two large rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Roll each piece into a 9-inch rope and place them on the prepared baking sheets, leaving 2 inches of space between each breadstick.
  10. Loosely cover the breadsticks and let them rise for 30 minutes, or until noticeably puffed.
  11. Bake for 12 to 17 minutes or until golden.
  12. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of melted butter, minced garlic (or garlic powder), and minced parsley (if using). Mix well.
  13. Brush the hot breadsticks with the garlic butter mixture and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.
