Description

Hash brown casserole is a comfort classic that is easy to make and comes together quickly. It is a creamy, cheesy dish that is perfect for potlucks or serving to a large group of people.


Ingredients

1 small onion, chopped

3 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup melted butter

2 cups sour cream

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup

1 tsp kosher sea salt

1 tsp freshly cracked black pepper

2 cups frozen hash browns

Optional:

garlic powder

sausage

sun-dried tomatoes

olives


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt butter and pour into a casserole dish, swirling to coat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine sour cream, cream of chicken soup, chopped onion, salt, pepper, and 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well.
  4. Add frozen hash browns to the mixture and fold in until well coated.
  5. Spoon mixture into the casserole dish in an even layer.
  6. Sprinkle remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
  8. Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
