HONEY CITRUS CHICKEN BREASTS

Howard Land By Howard Land

Honey Citrus Chicken is a quick and easy meal that is perfect for busy weeknights or for meal prepping. This dish is all about the flavor, with a balance of sweet and tangy from the honey, oranges, and lemons. The ingredients are simple and include shallots, garlic, naval oranges, lemon juice, and chicken breasts.

How to cook Honey citrus chicken breasts:

Begin by dicing up a medium to large shallot, which provides a soft oniony garlicy flavor. If you cannot find a shallot, a sweet onion or yellow onion can be used instead. After mincing two garlic cloves and adding them to the pan, it’s time to work on the oranges. Slice the ends off the orange and remove the skin, then dice the orange into small pieces or supreme the orange for a fancier presentation. Supreming is the process of removing each slice from between the membrane.

Next, zest and juice another orange and add the juice from one lemon for a bright and zingy flavor. In terms of chicken, use four boneless skinless chicken breasts that are about six to seven ounces each. You can lightly pound the chicken to even out the thickness.

Finally, bring everything together on the stove by combining the diced shallot and minced garlic in a pan and sautéing until fragrant. Then add the sliced orange, orange juice, lemon juice, and chicken breasts to the pan. Cook the chicken until fully cooked, then drizzle the remaining honey citrus sauce all over everything. Serve with a side of veggies and rice for a delicious and satisfying meal.
