Following these simple steps will help you achieve perfect basmati rice in the Instant Pot!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 tablespoon oil of choice
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cupteaspoon salt, adjust to taste water

Instructions

  1. Soak the basmati rice in cold water for 10-30 minutes. Drain and rinse rice until the water runs clear. Soaking rice is optional.
  2. Heat up the instant pot for a minute by pressing Sauté. Add your oil of choice and make sure it is divided evenly around the edges and bottom of the pot. This guarantees your rice does not stick to the bottom. Add the rice, water, and salt to the pot and mix well. For softer rice, make sure to have a 1:1½ for the rice: water ratio. 
  3. Seal the pressure valve and secure the lid. Cook for 6 minutes on high pressure.
  4. When the instant pot beeps, release the pressure naturally for 10 minutes. Open the valve and carefully vent any remaining pressure and open when it is safe to do so.
  5. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve with your favorite curry.
