Description

Homemade pizza roll-ups are a fun and customizable treat that blend the comforting familiarity of pizza with the unique twist of a roll-up. They are perfect for a quick snack, a party appetizer, or a whimsical dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough:

3/4 cup of warm water

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons of active dry yeast

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1 3/4 cup of flour

Fillings:

1/3 cup of pizza sauce

1/2 pound of sliced Italian cold cuts (or pepperoni)

11 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup of shredded parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon of Italian seasonings

Topping:

1/4 cup of melted salted butter

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

1 teaspoon of dried parsley

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Mix these together briefly.
  2. Stir in salt and then gradually mix in the flour until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and no longer sticks to your hands.
  3. Cover the dough in a lightly greased bowl and leave it to rise for about an hour.
  4. While the dough is rising, prepare your fillings – pizza sauce, Italian cold cuts, shredded mozzarella cheese, shredded parmesan cheese, and Italian seasonings.
  5. After the dough has doubled in size, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. Roll out the dough onto a lightly floured piece of parchment paper into a rectangle roughly the size of a baking sheet.
  7. Spread the pizza sauce across the dough, leaving the edges clear.
  8. Layer the cold cuts, cheeses, and Italian seasoning on top of the sauce. Be careful not to overfill.
  9. Roll the dough up just like a cinnamon roll, and then cut it into 12 even pieces, each approximately 2 inches.
  10. Place the roll-ups onto a parchment-lined or greased baking sheet, evenly spaced.
  11. Prepare the topping by combining melted salted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley. Brush this onto the roll-ups.
  12. Bake the roll-ups for about 14 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.
  13. Allow them to cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed on their own or dipped into extra pizza sauce or ranch dressing.
