These easy, amazing cheddar biscuits are the perfect addition to any meal, packed with flavor and a lovely cheesiness from the cheddar. This recipe makes biscuits that are not only delicious but also simple to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale

120 grams (or 1 cup) of shredded cheddar cheese

¼ cup (or 57 grams) of butter, cubed

2.25 cups (or 270 grams) of all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon of baking powder

1 teaspoon of salt

½ teaspoon of garlic powder

¼ teaspoon of paprika

½ cup (or 120 milliliters) of cold buttermilk

1 large egg

¼ cup (or 57 grams) of butter, melted (for the butter spread)

2 tablespoons of minced parsley

¼ teaspoon of garlic powder (for the butter spread)

Flaked sea salt (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 Fahrenheit (220 Celsius).
  2. Shred the cheddar cheese and set aside.
  3. Cube the butter and keep it cold until needed.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
  5. Add the cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use your fingers or a pastry blender to work the butter into the flour until it reaches a pea-sized consistency.
  6. Add the shredded cheese to the mixture, ensuring it is well-distributed throughout.
  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cold buttermilk and the egg.
  8. Gradually add the buttermilk and egg mixture to the flour and cheese mixture, stirring as you go until a shaggy dough forms.
  9. Scoop the dough in quarter cup portions onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing each biscuit about two inches apart.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 17 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and puffed up.
  11. While the biscuits are baking, prepare the butter spread by combining the melted butter, minced parsley, and garlic powder.
  12. Once the biscuits are done, remove them from the oven and brush them generously with the butter spread.
  13. Finish with a sprinkle of flaked sea salt on each biscuit.
  14. Enjoy while warm.
