To make your Turkish chicken shish kebab, there are few steps you need to follow, so let’s go:

1- In a bowl, put some yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, ketchup, garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, cumin, black pepper, paprika, and cinnamon, mix everything and let to rest

2- Place your chicken pieces into the bowl, and mix them with the marinate

3- Cover the bowl with plastic rape and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 2-8 hours

4- While the chicken is absorbing the marinade, get your grill ready ( medium-high heat)

5- Get your chicken out of the refrigerator and get skewers

6- Place the marinated chicken pieces on the skewers, you can use onions or peppers to separate between the pieces and of course for a healthier choice.

7- Place the kebabs on the grill, and let them cook until they begin to unstick from the grill, 3 or 4 minutes.

8- Turn kebabs and grill the other side for 3 or 4 minutes. Continue doing the same process until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear.

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or 4 to 5 boneless, skinless thighs)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt (or milk)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  1. In case you were on a hurry, you can marinate the chicken for 30 min, it will be enough for the chicken to absorb enough spices and flavors.
